Dear Parents and friends of the Canadian Bilingual School,
I wish to welcome warm-heartedly, all staff, parents and learners, new and returning, to the new academic year. I trust that your journey with us will exceed all your expectations. To our parents, “thank you for making the Canadian Bilingual School, your school of choice”. We believe in providing quality education for every child in every grade and leaving no child behind. Together with our talented and highly motivated staff, we endeavor to turn CBS into the most sought-after school in Kuwait.
Our mission is to promote a respectful, safe and supportive environment and encourage high expectations and academic success.
We follow the AERO core curriculum for our English medium program. Students also take classes in Arabic, Islamic and Kuwait Social Studies. The staff comprises of dedicated and talented teachers, educational assistants, ESL teachers, social workers and nurses, who work tirelessly and relentlessly to provide a safe, caring and supportive environment for our learners, where they can develop their potential optimally.
Our stimulating curriculum develops our learners cognitively, socially and emotionally to become active participants in the global community. Our school character traits of respect, responsibility, kindness, global citizenship, problem-solving, initiative, healthy living, teamwork, caring and reflection, are the guiding principles that inform student learning and behavior and provide a model for our school community.
From Pre-Kg onwards, our learners learn through play, sensory, auditory and tactile stimulation, which enable them to make sense and meaning of the world in which they live. Our world class English literacy program provides the foundation for effective reading, writing and speaking, skills which enhance the ability of our learners to learn effectively, across the curriculum.
As parents we should take collective responsibility for our children’s education, by becoming active participants in their academic development. We rely on your support to realize the goals, dreams and aspirations of our learners and together we CAN make it happen.
I wish you a prosperous 2024/2025 academic, year filled with blessings, peace and love. Enjoy the journey with CBS.
Sincerely,
Mr. Reginald Esau
Principal of Elementary
Dear Canadian Bilingual School Family,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 academic year! Whether you are returning to our CBS community or joining us for the first time, we are delighted to have you with us. At CBS, our mission is clear: to cultivate a respectful, safe, and supportive environment where high expectations and academic success are the norm. This is not just a mission statement, but a commitment we make to every student and family in our community.
To achieve this, we proudly deliver an American Common Core-based curriculum enriched by best practices in teaching and assessment. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity, nurtures respect and ensures every student feels supported.
Our middle and high school programs encourage students to approach their work with independence and collaboration. We invite them to engage deeply with ideas, explore topics from multiple angles, and make meaningful connections between their studies and the world beyond the classroom. We believe that when students and staff collaborate within a connected community of learners, the educational experience becomes more profound and impactful.
As our high school students progress, they can choose between the Business Stream and the Science Stream starting in Grade 11, based on their future university and career aspirations. Our guidance counselor begins working with students in Grade 9, helping them explore various career options. In Grade 10, students take part in a career guidance course where they interact with professionals, engage in mini projects, and learn about different career paths. This prepares them to make informed decisions about their futures.
Continuous curriculum review is at the heart of our teaching approach. Our teachers regularly assess student data to refine and improve instruction. At the end of each quarter, students work with their teachers to set goals and outline their next steps. Additionally, Grades 6 to 10 students take the MAP test to gauge their progress and growth in English and Math.
The middle and high school years are pivotal for laying the foundation for future success. Our unwavering commitment to supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth drives us to provide the best possible educational experience. We strongly encourage students to take advantage of our many extracurricular activities, whether in sports, after-school clubs, student council, or other CBS and community events. These activities play a vital role in helping students grow emotionally, socially, and physically.
Challenges are an inevitable part of life, but within every challenge lies an opportunity to learn and grow. We not only encourage our students to face challenges head-on but also to view them as chances to grow and succeed. We wish you all a year filled with learning, growth, and success.
Warmest regards,
Gihan Hassan
High School Principal
