High school years are those memorable life-changing years in everyone’s life. Here at CBS, we work hard to ensure our high school students (Grades 6-12) have the best academic experience and career guidance to make sure they achieve their goals and succeed in higher education and life. Our students are challenged to think critically and creatively through the balanced curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

At CBS, our students learn to recognize the connections between academic disciplines and applications to the outside world. Skills and concepts are not taught in isolation, students and staff collaborate to form a highly connected community of learners.

CBS adopts an American based curriculum in Math (Calculus and Pre-calculus), Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), English, Business subjects, Pe and Art. We follow the Kuwaiti Ministry of education curricula in Arabic, Islamic and Kuwait Social Studies.

At CBS, we encourage all students to get involved in extra-curricular activities where it is sports, after-school clubs, student council, or involvement in other CBS and community activities that can help students grow emotionally, socially, and physically.

The guidance counselor conducts an information session with students and parents regarding the importance of marks accumulating towards graduation from Grades 9-12 and regarding the completion of Community Service Hours.
CBS has adopted the AERO Language Curriculum. This curriculum focuses on 4 main areas of language: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. The strength of the AERO common curriculum is two-fold: it lies in both its conciseness of content and concepts, and its broad application of these ideas, allowing more time to work on and master the content and skills needed for effective and efficient use of language.
CBS has adopted the recently released AERO Common Core Math Standards. The Common Core State Standards provide clear and consistent learning goals to help prepare students for college, career, and life. Emphasis in the AERO Math framework is on the processes and proficiencies of longstanding importance in mathematics at all levels.
CBS uses the AERO Science Framework that is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). This framework puts great emphasis on the proper scientific steps and procedures used in all areas of science, and it structures its lessons to constantly bring these skills to the forefront. Science is broken down into “domains,” those being Life Science, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science, and Scientific Investigation. Each domain addresses both the knowledge and skills to understand the processes, content and scientific principles. In High School full-year courses in Biology and Chemistry are required for all students in Grades 9 and 10. Those students wishing to pursue deeper study in a branch of science may opt for elective courses in Chemistry, Physics and Biology offered in Grades 11 and 12.
CBS uses the AERO Common Core Social Studies Curriculum Framework revised in 2019. The focus on inquiry and questioning is key to learning, and by its nature, social studies promotes the use of questions throughout the learning process. These questions aid students in the exploration of the disciplines in relation to the standards and allow students to develop the habits of mind required of a social scientist.
CBS offers a number of full-year business-related courses, from introductory level to advanced level across Grades 10 to 12. The Business Department has adopted the standards and benchmarks of the BCIT (The Business, Computer, Accounting and Information Technology) Standards, developed in 2012, that describe what students should know and be able to do in the field of business education. Business education involves teaching students the fundamentals, theories, and processes of a business. By aligning our content and skills to these well-defined standards, CBS students receive a solid foundation in business fundamentals and accounting principles.
CBS delivers the Arabic curriculum offered and prepared by the Ministry of Education in the State of Kuwait. The textbooks and curricula are based on standards and competencies to achieve practical and functional skills. These standards and competencies are relevant to the diverse needs and capabilities of learners and meet the requirements of the community and the labor market. The curriculum is supported with various activities and readings (integrated with Qatari curriculum standards) to enrich students' information and analytical abilities.
CBS delivers the Islamic curriculum offered and prepared by the Ministry of Education in the State of Kuwait. The textbooks and curricula are based on standards and competencies to achieve the memorization and reading skills of the Holy Quran and also include the Character traits of the school, tied in with Islamic values.
CBS delivers the Kuwait Social Studies curriculum offered and prepared by the Ministry of Education in the State of Kuwait. The textbooks and curricula are based on standards and competencies to achieve the skills required of the subject.
Physical Education at CBS is tied into the KidFit program which begins in JK and continues as a required course up through Grade 10. General movement exploration forms the bedrock of the Kindergarten and Elementary Physical Education curricula. Middle School builds on these fundamental skills and enhances team activities, game strategies, skills, and “lead-up” games based on major sports. Grades 9 and 10 work on honing the specific skills and strategies of major sports, as well as learning defensive tactics. For students in Grades 11 and 12, the Physical Education Department offers electives. From Kindergarten through High School, continual emphasis is placed on good sportsmanship, teamwork, cooperation, and safe use of equipment, as well as on the social and emotional development needed to become a good teammate and a gracious competitor.
The IT Curriculum is guided by the 2016 International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Students by TechnoKids (which is aligned to Common Core standards). TechnoKids Technology Projects integrates technology into the curriculum across subject areas such as language arts, mathematics, social studies, visual arts, or science. At CBS, technology is integrated into the English subjects for Kindergarten using iPads / tablets. General computer classes are mandatory for Grades 1 to 8 and 10. IT electives are offered for Grades 11 and 12 which allow students to focus on the computer skills of their interest such as programming and graphic design. Technology skills are also integrated into other subjects from Grade 6 to 12 through the iPad program.
The Art Curricula focuses on the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design that constitute all art creations. Students examine and analyze the elements and principles to appreciate and understand established works of art and the vast array of possibilities open to them when creating their own work. Art electives are offered for Grades 11 and 12 which give students deeper focus into the various art skills of their interest.
